Holidays are over

14 januari 2020 - Khwaeng Thanon Phaya Thai, Thailand

Hi all!

I didn’t write on here last week as we were busy traveling and snorkeling.

After koh phanang we left for Koh Samui and spends 4 days on there!

We rented a scooter for the first two days to explore the island. We came across this beautiful area called fisherman’s village, were there are lots of restaurants that have sea views! We strolled around over the market in the evening and enjoyed our food looking over the beach and the sea!

We has also gone to see the mummified monk! Very Interesting to see..

on one side of the island the waves were very strong so getting Into the water and trying to get past the waves was very difficult! I couldn’t get past them by myself as I kept being knocked down by the waves so Phil came to pull me through so we could enjoy the waves better 🌊

on one of the days we went on a organized tour to see some dolphins and PIGS on the beach!  we have had great experiences before with spotting dolphins but on this trip we did not manage to see them very well! They were there but they probably weren’t interested in showing themselves properly to us. Can’t blame them tho!

We then went snorkeling and the crew threw some bread at us to feed the fish and to get some good close up pictures of the fish! However the locals gave us the bread, it is recommended not to feed the fish, as they will then stop eating what they normally eat! After the snorkeling we went to see the pigs on the beach! This was on a small island close to Koh Samui! And it was very disappointing. The island itself was beautiful, but the way that we were sold the trip it looked like the pigs were roaming around on the beach and it was more like there habitat! But instead you could clearly tell that these pigs have been brought here to make it another attraction for tourist! And another way to make some money! I would not recommend anyone to do this trip, as the following day we went on a trip that was really good!

On the second trip we went to the ang thong national park! We also went snorkeling on this trip and saw an amazing school of fish! They were constantly around us just under/besides the rocks we were swimming at! We then stopped of to go to a view point to see the lagoon! Very dodgy steps! But worth the views. We enjoyed a canoe trip following one of the guides who took us through and under caves and rocks!

The last stop of this trip was pha jun jaras nature trail. After another very difficult and exhausting hike up to the view point we were able to see all of the national park! Absolutely stunning and worth it!

After Koh Samui we travelled to Koh Tao, which was our last destination before heading back to Bangkok!

Here we were told that snorkeling is a must do as this area is very popular for divers!

Our hotel was right on the beach and we had a great view from our room! We rented a scooter and after making a route we traveled to some beaches! Our first stop was Tanote beach, beautiful scenery but unfortunately the water was covered in weird looking jelly things ( they weren’t jelly fish, but we also don’t know what they were) so we moved on to the next beach, that is called aow leuk. We stopped to go snorkeling here and saw some amazing coral and fish. And after a while we even saw some small 🦈 Sharks.. so amazing to see.

One of the days we rented a long tail boat and guide with our friends! We went to many beautiful spots to snorkel and trying to find a trutle! No luck unfortunately. We also stopped at nangyuan island, 3 islands connected by sand banks, this is a very popular place for snorkeling, beginners diving and hiking up to another view point to see all three islands connecting!

Me and Phil went back to nangyuan the following day to try to spot a turtle again but again no luck! We did however see some massive fish. called Trigger fish... these fish have caused more known attacks then sharks here in Thailand! So as soon as I saw those two massive fish swimming around each other ( and it looked like they were fighting) I swam away, and Phil swam the other way, 🙈shortly after swimming away they must have followed Phil and they swam past him really closely ! Honestly terrified me..

anyway we didn’t go in that deep anymore after seeing them😂

on our last day at Koh Tao we did want to try again to see if there were any trutles but the waves were very big and it was windy so we were advised that the chances of seeing a turtle in such waves is very small as they do not like the waves! So instead we spend our last day packing and recovering from all the swimming...

we arrived at Bangkok after a long day of traveling. And spend two days here to do some final souvenir shopping and relaxing at the pool!

We are fully packed up now and are ready to fly back to England later today!

Sorry for the long story, we hope you enjoyed reading them. We enjoyed our travels through Thailand for sure

lots of love

Nikkie and Phil
